Ego Booster

We've been doing lots of construction at our house so a few flies have gotten in. Last night, Seamus said he wanted to run around and catch them. Our cat, Henry, also likes to do that so I told Seamus he and Henry should team up.

Seamus said "How about you Mommy?" I said "No, I'm too slow".

"Yes, you can. You're good at things! You're great at things!"

Thanks, Sweetie.

I miss you too

Seamus and James came to visit me at work today. It's always nice when they come to see me. Seamus loves walking around the office and saying hi to everyone and finding little toys on everyone's desks. Everybody just oohs and aahs over him which he just eats right up.

Lately, he's been missing me a lot and having a hard time with me being at work. This morning as I left, I said "Bye Baby" and he said "Don't say Bye Baby, say Hi Baby" and wouldn't stop hugging me. He'll leave me messages at work and say "I'm missing you very much Mommy".

Now that he's officially given up naps, we have less time in the evenings together. By the time I get home and do his treatments and give him dinner, he's usually falling asleep in the chair. We haven't read books or told our story before bed in weeks and I miss that special time with him.

This weekend, I'm going to try to make it up to him and have lots of Mommy and Seammy time.

Beautiful boy

I've trimmed the back of Seamus' hair before but yesterday was the first time I did a full blown cut. Needless to say, I will be keeping my day job. What have I done to my beautiful boy?

Busy week

I haven't posted in quite awhile. We've been very busy with Spring activities and guests. Seamus has had a lot of fun now that the warm weather is finally here.

Saturday 4/12 - We went to the park with Ga and Pa. Seamus rode on the zebra on the merry-go-round right next to Ga who didn't think she had it in her to climb up on the horse but she did it. Then we went on the train ride which Ga thought was very nice. It's always one of Seamus' favorites. We discovered a huge playground that had all kinds of things to climb on including an elephant, seal, and huge wooden cars that looked like the Flintstone cars. We're going to go back there when we have more time.

Sunday 4/13 - Seamus got his first bike! It's his Super Duper Thomas Bike, that's his official name for it. It's a Thomas the Train tricycle and it's super cool. We took it down to the park and he tried to take it on the slide with him. I convinced him it was too big but he had to at least take the small pack on the front of the bike off and send that down the slide and on the swings. He's having a hard time getting the hang of it and ends up walking Thomas more than riding but he'll get it.

Monday 4/14 - Grandpa and Aunt Bailea came for a visit! Seamus hadn't seen them since last October so he had lots of new stuff to show off. We all went out to dinner and he ended up entertaining the whole restaurant with his dance moves.

Tuesday 4/15 - Mommy and Daddy went out to dinner to celebrate Daddy's finishing graduate school!! Seamus got to spend time with all his grandparents, Ga, Pa and Grandpa.

Wednesday 4/16 - Seamus, Mommy, Daddy, Grandpa and Aunt Bailea all went to the zoo. It was a beautiful day and we saw all kinds of special things. The Orang utans were walking overhead on the wires, the mommy panda came right down in front of us which is really rare, and we saw the elephants and sea lions get fed.

Thursday and Friday - play, play, play

Saturday - We went to the Riverdale Community Garden Festival and Seamus got his face painted and ran around with a new friend. Then we went to the Hyattsville Arts Festival and saw lots of pretty things and heard nice music. The highlights were the hula hoops for kids and seeing our good friend Lilly.

Bedtime Stories Part 1

Usually every night before bed, Seamus and I read books. The last couple of nights we have started making up our own. Here is our story:

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Seamus who lived with his Mommy and Daddy and a dragon named "What". What missed his own Mommy and Daddy so Seamus and his Daddy took a walk one day with What and his friend Leo the Lion to go find them.

They couldn't remember the way so they had to ask the map in Seamus' backpack. The map said you go through the park and over the bridge to get to What's Mommy and Daddy's house.

They started walking through the park and heard a very loud noise. At first they were scared but then they realized it was another dragon named Harvey. Harvey wasn't mean but he was lonely and wanted to play with them. They invited him to go on the walk with them.

After they went through the park and over the bridge, they found What's Mommy and Daddy's house. They were so glad to see him and What decided he wanted to stay with them. Harvey said he would go back with Seamus and his Daddy and live with them. Harvey wouldn't be lonely anymore and he could protect Seamus and his Mommy and Daddy.

They all made it back to Seamus' house and Harvey and Leo decided to live in the backyard. They invited their friends the giraffe, elephant, and monkeys to live there too. Everybody was happy in the backyard and sometimes Seamus would ride on the animals and go for walks around the neighborhood.

To be continued...

Random stuff

Seamus has probably 100 "friends", little plastic animals all over the house who have lots of conversations with each other and with him. Sometimes I overhear some funny stuff.

Camel: "Hi Polar Bear"
Polar Bear: "Hi Camel, nice humps"

Froggy: "Seamus, you're not supposed to color on the toy box. That's naughty."
Seamus: "I'm sorry"
(I've heard of kids reprimanding their toys but never the toys reprimanding the kid)

Seamus didn't feel very well today. I think his tummy is hurting. This morning after his bath he said he wanted to go back into his crib to "relax". He stayed up there awhile and when I asked him how he was feeling he said "Sick". Later he heard me sniffing because my allergies are acting up and came over and sat next to me and said "How are you feeling?" It was very sweet.

We started taking a music class this weekend. There's a lot of dancing and jumping and playing instruments, Seamus absolutely loves it. He has so much interaction with the other kids, much more than gymnastics. There is a little girl, Isabelle, who is a female version of Seamus. They hit it off right away.

We've also started investigating pre-schools for the Fall. We found one we like that is pretty small and has experience with kids with CF so we're trying to get in there. It's only 2 days a week so we're hoping it's enough time to socialize but not so much time that he'll start picking up lots of colds and other things. We've kept him healthy (lung-wise) so far and we don't want that to change but he's so excited about going to "school" and playing with other kids, we have to do it.

Freckles

Seamus has six freckles. One on the inside of each knee (a matched set), one on his face under his right eye, one on his chin, one under his chin and one in a private spot I won't mention. He's getting new ones each day and he loves to count them and then try to count Mommy's. Good luck on that one!

Last night, we discovered the one on his chin and he was so happy he almost burst. All he could say was "Hug, Mommy!"

I love his hugs. He holds on so tight and really squeezes. It's like he has so much emotion flowing out of him that he can't put into words so he puts it into his hugs.
